The following information is available for St. Michael's Church:
St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Fryburg, Clarion County, was founded in 1820. Fryburg is located in Clarion County just across the Venango County line.
The current pastor of our St. Michael the Archangel parish community is Reverend (Father) DG Davis, III. He hails orginally from Corry, Pennsylvania - in fact was born there on January 3, 1957 (you do the math) and raised in Corry. He attended the Baptist Church, although was never baptized until, after years of spiritual discernment, he decided that the teachings of Jesus as they are expressed in the Catholic faith, were his true and complete teachings and so, arranged to be catechized by Fr. John Lucas. Then the pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Corry, and was subsequently baptized and received his First Holy Communion on August 20, 1975, only weeks before beginning his freshman year at what was then Clarion State College. The following spring he was confirmed. After graduating with a BS degree in Secondary Education, Social Studies, Fr. Davis taught for a number of years in both the public and parochial school systems as a history and theology. It was during that time that he continued his sprirtual discernment, always keeping the possibility of ordained priesthood in the back of his mind. After the teaching profession began to become more bureaucratic and administrative, priesthood became more attractive to him and he prayed that if three people suggested to him that he become a priest, that he would not renew his teaching contract at the end of the school year and instead, would apply to St. Mark Seminary in Erie. What he prayed for happened. Within a span of three short weeks, three people suggested priesthood to him and the rest is history. After two years at St. Mark's and four years at Christ the King outside of Buffalo, New York, Fr. Davis was ordained as a transitional deacon for about ten months, assigned to St. Michael's Church in Greenville, Pennsylvania. After his ordination to priesthood on April 24, 1998, he was assigned to St Joseph in Sharon, to St. Leo in Ridgway, to the Catholic Community of St. Titus, St. Walburga, and Immaculate Conception in Titusville, and in August of 2011 began his second pastorate at St. Michael the Archangel Parish. Fr. Davis loves priesthood (although he says "It has its moments") and loves to say Mass. He devotes most of his time to the flock at St. Michael's but in his spare time, he loves to read (his favorite genre of literature is "Lord of the Rings" kind of fantasy and or historical fiction; his three favorite books are The Bible, "Gone with the Wind", and "To Kill a Mockingbird"; he recently purchased a Kindle and loves it!'), to watch movies (preferably at the theatre but a good DVD will work too; his three favorite movies are "Gone with the Wind", "To Kill a Mockingbird", and "The Shawshank Redemption"), to listen music (preferably country music but not exculsively), and to spend quality time, walking and loving his golden retriever, Noah. If you have the time and the desire, Fr. Davis invites you to stop by his office and tell him a little bit about yourself. He would love to hear from you, anytime!

The Holy Priesthood is under attack from all the forces of evil in these trying times. From the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we hear Jesus calling for the many He chose to go out into the world and preach the Gospel. Pray for our priests who are so overworked and made to look small by the lies and deceits of the Devil. Pray that Jesus will again call many good men to unite themselves to Him in the Holy Priesthood. Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, pray for priests!
Father has plenty of time on Saturday afternoons to hear a few more confessions. "Be not afraid!"
June 23, 2019, the feast of Corpus Christi! Praise be to God for the gift of the Body of Christ!
I have a few of these that I have put in St. Michael church Sunday. I will put some in St. Joseph church tonight.
Perpetual Adoration may not be possible in our parish but we can spend a little time either before or after Mass in adoration of Jesus in the tabernacle.
I don't know why some things happen Sunday Mass 10:00 AM at St. Michael's was thrilling, at least for a little while. Just at the Consecration, a large bat fell down from somewhere and flew the circuit of the entire church 3 or 4 times. At the moment of the consecration of the Host, it lit upon the votive light just above the altar. Then it flew off very low over the congregation and disappeared. This was a delight to some of us and a horror to others. All God's creatures will adore, I suppose.
A little something for thought.
There are many good books in St. Joseph and St. Michael breezeway libraries. Why not pick one up for reflection during Lent? I recently read the one on Padre Pio in the back of St. Joseph church.
